    Default Auto snap distance

Hi! I've recently moved from AutoCAD 2004 to version 2013 and 2017LT. I'm having an problem with the auto snaps picking points away from the area I'm working in. I've checked my auto snaps and only have certain ones picked and the only way I've found to remedy the problem is to F3 when I'm working and manually pick the points or completely turn off the auto snaps and pick each point individually which is not ideal. Is there a way I can change the amount of distance that the auto snap will snap to?

    Thanks!
    Pam

You can adjust the APERTURE setting, but all that will do is change the area around the cursor in which AutoCAD will look for objects to which your running object snaps can be applied. It will not, for example, stop an endpoint snap applied to a relatively long line the endpoints of which are outside of the "area in which you are working" from snapping to the closer of the two "far away" endpoints. That will happen with an explicitly entered object snap override, too, but there you can at least choose a snap type specific to the point you want, which would presumably be chosen over any distant points.

I think it would be fair to say that nothing has changed with regard to how object snaps work in 2013 and 2017, compared to 2004.

@pamelakieck740973 -- Maybe your settings (mostly controlled by the bitcode sysvar AUTOSNAP) are different?
Have you compared this setting in the different versions? What is yours set to now in the newer verisons?
