Default Stairs showing through floors in area plans

I have created colored area plans and on each second floor the part of stairs that is suppose to be covered by floor is showing through and is not breaking where is should be. I've noticed this before and it's only when I do colored area plans..anyone know what could be causing this?

You could try the draworder to bring the color to the front? Easier if they are in the same file but I would guess they are not.
