    Default graphic scale with fields

I have attempted to insert a field into a graphic scale.

I select object, pick the viewport, then I have trouble.

I need the 40' from the viewport.

I've looked at the custom and scale, but the closet I get is 1:40. I just need the 40'

I want to show 1"=[field] and then above the scale the scale 40 then 80 then 120

You're very close. Select the custom scale. In the bottom part of the window it shows the 'field expression'. Copy this expression, select Formula from the Field names and then paste it into the formula area. A numeric value will be displayed for the formula (0.025). Add to the formula to get to the numeric value you need (1/0.025), then format the result.

a little bit beyond me....change it to decimal and I can see the math to get a 200 scale is to add a conversion by 40000, I don't know if this will be the same for any scale.

I don't understand the math or the process. I have selected my scale from the scale list.

    why is it 1"=16.666667?

doesn't auto update. I'm trying to save time on multiple sheet setups, don't want to have to update each number on each sheet.

will look into a dynamic block with a lookup table.

The field is unique to that viewport that it was created from, however, if the scale and viewport are copied and pasted as a pair the new pair will be linked to each other. Copied layouts will also be paired together. New drawings started from a template .dwt with a viewport and scale already setup will stay linked as well.

I have my graphic scales within my template drawings along with the viewport that it is linked to. The graphic scale also has a table within itself such that I can over-ride the fields and go manual/dynamic if needed.
