Default worksharing to windows network vis vpn?

Two firms are going to be working on a Revit project simultaneously using worksharing, each from their own office. Is it as simple as having the central model hosted on one of the firm's Windows network and the other firm be given network access to a shared folder via vpn? Thx.

Sounds like a bad idea, especially if both firms are working at the same time. Although it is technically possible, users may experience general model slowness at minimum. At worse, this can corrupt the model.

Recommend using Revit Server or Autodesk BIM 360 Collaboration for Revit (C4R). Revit Server requires some IT support and a VPN. C4R is Autodesk's cloud solution, but it involves a monthly fee for each user.

Thanks. The hosting firms IT guy just said that worksharing will work simply by having the central file on their Windows network. I guess we will see. If it doesn't work as needed, I suppose we could always move the project to A360.
