Default Adaptive Component Path of Travel family and levels

I've searched the forum and I can't find exactly what I'm looking for so I thought I'd post.
I created an adaptive component family for my path of travel line. It works great except for the fact it doesn't know what level it's on. When working with multi story buildings I'd like to display the level to which the line is on in the schedule. Only level 1 is displayed no matter which level the line is on. Any ideas as to how I can get it to read the correct level?

Are you copying the family from one level to the other or are you recreating it each time? If you are just copying it then it's likely that it keeps the original level association.
