Default Civil 3D - Arrows appearing on drawings that aren't part of the label style

I have created a civil 3D slope style that shows the step in earthworks between two locations.

However when it's x-refed into my sheet file the arrows appear indicating the slope direction?

Any ideas why this would be happening?
    Thanks

It could be a scale thing and in one drawing the arrow head is reeeealy small.

It could be a block used in the label style that is defined differently in each drawing.

thanks for the ideas, changing scale doesn't affect it.

the same arrows appear on my alignments but they don't print?

so it remains a mystery to me.
