Unhappy Shape Handles on a Curtain Wall family?

    Hi,

I have a Curtain Wall Family in which I would like to draw a sort of plate in front of it (see Picture). I'd like to control the height and Width of that plate with shape handles: I added ref planes, a dimension and labelled that dimension with an instance parameter.

By doing that, I get the shape handles when the Family is loaded in a project BUT when I grab it and try to move it, the geometry won't change... Is that a Revit issue: shape handles won't work for a family IN a curtain wall or something like that (in which case, is there a workaround?)

Or did I just do something wrong? Couldn't find anything about that "issue" anywhere...

    Best regards

    David

I made a family to test the functionality and I'm getting the same results you describe. The shape handles can't be dragged to change the size of the plate but the family parameters are available in the properties dialog box and can modify the shape of the plate by entering values directly. With some careful layout of the dimensions in the family you should be able to size and locate the plate where you want.

If you don't need the plate to be part of the curtain wall for schedule or something you could make a face based component and host it to the curtain wall.

Allright, that confirms my thoughts. I was asked to use shape handles but finally just use parameters because handles don't work.

Could be smart not to display those handles though, if they don't work anyway!

    Thanks for the answer!
