Topography from Linked-CAD

I'm looking to generate and set the topography from a CAD file. I'm looking to figure out the best way of doing so. My thoughts was to link the CAD, create topography and create a building pad at the level required then shift to the project base point to the pad.

I'm not sure how to set the level of the building pad to the level which is on the CAD file as it works off level 0 etc.

Is there a better way of doing this ?

You should be able to control the depth of the pad.
