Default add a parameter from one family to another

How do I add a parameter that is in one family to another? For example my project has a window with a "glass type" parameter. The window schedule has the same "glass type" parameter and accurately displays the glass type of the window. Now load a new window type to the project that does not have a "glass type" parameter. I created a "glass type" shared parameter, but when I added it to the new window, its value did not appear in the window schedule. How do I add a "glass type" parameter to the new window family so that it works with the window schedule?
