Smile Any Program/Method to do it in a better & simplified way

    Hi Mates,

    Good day!!!!

Basic idea is to create a drawing based on input from the excel file. We have a drawing that has supports & tray details.

We assign them a type no based on input from the excel sheet.

In the attached drawing, we have Type-01 to Type-07 which have different tray sizes based on the excel input. Like this we have n number of types which actually takes more time for preparing it.

I request help from the forum to do this in a better way or any program that shall create is as a block/ pre-defined attribute.

    Thank you,

    Cheers,

There is numerous examples about linking Autocad to excel both to and from. Looking at what you provided I would go other way write some lisps to do the trays and export as you create to excel.

I ahve mentioned this to someone else on another forum who may be able to help.

I believe such custom program can not be written freely.

Custom LISP development services are provided by many outfits.

LISP can double (or more) productivity.

It is sometimes a hard sell to management, but when they find out how much money they are throwing away by not customizing, they usually come around.

I write AutoCAD workflow automation software.

But there are many who can, a few a really good and could make you a LOT of money.

It is a good idea to do what you are proposing, but it would take time to develop this.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply . Will give a try to make these things simpler with whatever the options available.

The obvious is that you want 3 versions Plan, Side elevation and End elevation. Ask here or some other sites like cadtutor about providing programming to suit your needs.

Search Cadtutor for BIG-AL and Tray there is a tray connector lisp there.

    Hi,

Here i have only the sectional views(Side elevation). The fact is that this elevation changes based on the input from excel. i.e., TYPE-01 will be different from TYPE-02.

But you want some one to write it for you for free, I have 30+ years of using Autocad and I write the code because I like to and it may be useful for me in future.

Sometimes the request is just to much a single user request not useful to others hence no code. This site and others are not will do whatever you ask for for free.

When working on commercial dwg's there can be so many things that can be automated saving huge amounts of time, one I did 20 minutes is now seconds.

So you have to spend money some times but dont limit yourself to just one task if asking for help think bigger a suite of programs.

Something I have been coding and testing has taken 5 hours thats a big cost. For a less than 1 second solution. You work it out old way 30 minutes new way 1 second.

If you google more you will find the basics of how to draw objects via lisp, Afralisp is a good start, Getexcel.lsp provides all the code for linking to excel but you have to know how to use it.

What you want should be out there its a common task in multi storey buildings its just hard to find.
