Multiple profiles within a detail component family

I've been playing around with simple families to make detailing easier. I would like to create multiple generic flashing profiles that can be found inside one family. I would like min 3 profiles. A J-trim, parapet cap, and window head flashing. Can this be done?

On another note, I found a few forums on family creation and they were talking about symbolic lines. Do symbolic lines exist in detail component families?

This can be done by creating each of the items as separate families and then nesting them into another family and controlling which one is used using the "Family Type" parameter Attachment 105545.
The other way to do this is to make all the items in one family and then turn them on/off with a visibility parameter.

The only issue with this is that if you make each of the components parametric in size then you start having too many parameters as not every dimensional parameter will relate to each of the items. Usually best to keep them separate.
