Default Lidar Stream Channel Surface Accuracy

I am having issues when creating a surface from a .LAS point cloud. When the surface is created from the point cloud instead of accurately defining the channel it creates a bunch of pits and ridges down the channel. Basically the top of bank points are triangulating across the channel to the other side instead of the channel bottom points triangulating to the other bottom points down the stream (See the attached screenshot).

Is there a way (a setting?) to make the point cloud not generate the surface this way without manually adding breaklines?

See the attached screenshot. The blue line I drew in is the channel centerline. The red circles are example areas that I'm talking about.

    Any help is appreciated!
