Default moving stir cut plane and changing visibility underneathe

Should read "Stair cut plane." Unable to change in edit.
I'm trying to remember how to change the cut height on a residential stair run and change the visibility beneath.
My preference is to cut the stairs in the first floor plan at about 7'-0" and have complete visibility of the walls below the stairs. (So the stairs above 7'-0" wouldn't show at all.)
On the second floor plan I would just show going down 3 or 4 risers and then cutting all visibility below that. Tried to change the typo in the post title but unable.
    Thanks

It's based on the view range at the stair. If you do not want to change it for the entire plan, you can use a Plan Region and choose the height of the cut plane in the view range for the region.

To change visibility of stairs above the cut plane you need to open visibility graphics for your view and expand the stairs section then uncheck all items starting with <Above>. Do the same for railings.
