Default Groups - elements missing when copied/placed on different level

R17 - multifamily project, repeatable dwelling units made as groups, kitchen built as a family.

Units work as intended on the main level they were created. Copied or placed on the next floor up, we're having two different issues:
    • In most units, the closet shelves and rod don't show up at all.
    • In another unit, the kitchen doesn't show up on the level copied to, but does show up below on the level it was created. Strike that... Another team member just deleted and rebuilt the floor at the original level and now the kitchens are copying up correctly, but I don't understand what was binding it to the other level?

And that leaves the rod and shelf issue... View templates are the same. Any insights are greatly appreciated!
