I've been lurking these forums for years but decided to give it a try, because I have a headache going on right now for me.
I have a data outlet family that has some nested families within.
The nested families don't have any graphical overrides or parameters set to them, so they are visible.
What does have a graphical override is the geometry that was created in the family, it was set to be turned on and off.
For Walls, when I place the data outlet family on the wall, the geometry is visible.
I create several circuits and apply several data port number tags to the family via the nested families within. I have my own methods.
I then turn off my geometry using the parameter, and It's turned off, yet the tags remain.
That's what I am wanting.. but then:
For Floors or Ceilings, I create a different family with the same everything, just different Annotation. I place the data outlet family on a face, and do the same thing.
When I go to turn off the visibility of the geometry so just my annotation and tags show, the nested families are still visible, and I can't turn off my nested families' visibility to fix that because then my tags will disappear.
So is there a theory why nested families will not display when your face based family is attached to the wall, but will display if you host to a floor, ceiling, horizontal face?
Thanks for any help in figuring out why this is, I also attached some screen snips of the families behaving the way they are.
