    Default Correct procedure to rename a Revit model

    Hi;
    The architect has asked us to rename our electrical revit model. What is the correct procedure to do this. Being new to revit please keep it simple.

    Thanks

    Well usually there is a naming convention you would want to follow.
    Assuming you're using work-sharing and local/central files and referencing in models?

    We use central file names such as <job number>-<client name><discipline model>.rvt
    Example: "100.200.300-ACME BUILDING Structure.rvt"

    I suspect the architect has a naming convention you would follow?

    So while in your central model, you would need to save-as your central model as a new project with the new name and make sure you make that the central model.
    Close out and open that model and make a local file.

    Others may have a better suggestion, but that's what I have done.

    you should open your current model 'Detatched', then save as the new name, it should be set to 'Make this a central model after save' (under Options) by default after you open detatched. then create new locals from the new file. that way this new model is severed from the previous central model. if you just open and save-as, the new file will be a local file still associated with the original, and could get reverted if someone is still working in an old local copy.
    that's the way i understand it anyway,

    One more thing you might add the version of Revit being used to the file name. Otherwise you'll have to guess which version it is in the future when you have forgotten that important tidbit.
