    Default More Specification Rumors

I searched this forum for "Masterspec", and the last entry I saw was 2016. So, I heard this week that Revit is going to force the "Masterspec" system on everyone, rather than letting the market place decide on specification software. Is there any basis to that?

MasterSpec itself is not a software, per se, while it is a standard system published by ARCOM for the AIA. And, therefore, as with most editable settings, AIA standards usually become the baseline (outside of government work). There are several companion tools for working with specifications using MasterSpec, some integrate with Revit. But, Revit itself does not have an integrated specifications add-in or function (just a link to a customize-able external keynotes list). I'd be curious to learn your sources, if you could share?

This thread is old, but if anyone is interested in integrating and coordinating specs with Revit, check out VisiSpecs at www.chalklineinc.com. VisiSpecs is doc neutral so you can use MasterSpec, CMS. NMS, client masters, government masters, building manufacturer masters, your own masters, etc. Great testimonials, NO BIM MODEL CHANGES, and you get to use the familiar Microsoft Word editing that specifiers love.
