Exclamation Light Fixtures hosted in a Ceiling - Line Weights

I have lay-in light fixtures that are hosted in a ceiling. I would like the fixtures to display a heavier line weight than the ceiling. I have tried:
    - Visability / Graphics override (no effect)
    - Object Styles (no effect)
    - Making sure the family object style (model line) was accurate in the hosting model (no effect)

    Please help!

I would look at the Ceiling. If they're cutting the ceiling, the ceiling may be controlling. Are they recessed lights or hanging pendents?
