Hello,

Recently my job was acquired by a new company and I am in the process of learning their standards and the way they do things. My last job and this job until the acquisition, I only had 3 (three) styles of figures. Known, Un-Known, and Utility. In the figure prefix database I mapped each prefix to either Known or Utility type. The Known kept the 3d elevations and the Utility type flattened the lines to 0 (zero). The Un-Known only showed up when the survey crew would use a code that was not in the database. I had this type show up white, which drew your attention to it and let you know it needed some attention to be put on whatever layer it belonged on. Always seemed to work pretty good. We let the layer dictate the linetype and color.

The new template I am working with has close to 75 figure styles.

Question? Is there a best practices that matches to either way, and is there a benefit to having a style for each item (curb, edge of road, etc.)??

Thanks in advance!

Have a great day!
