When I use the Layer BATTING to depict Insulation it works great on the Model but when I flick to the LAYOUT it is all over the place and not neatly within the Rectangle area - Could anyone advise me on this please

Hello there....
We need more information, can you explain a "Layer" for "BATTING"? Do you mean a linetype for batting? (using an .shx (shape) file or maybe a font)
Can you post a screen shot of both situations (Model and Layout)? or even better, post a sample drawing file (.dwg)?
This is just a guess but it "could be" (if using a text style such as "standard"), that the style has an assigned height other then zero, or an annotative scale issue.
Check your LTSCALE, PSLTSCALE & MSLTSCALE settings.
LTSCALE: Sets the global linetype scale factor.
PSLTSCALE: Controls the linetype scaling of objects displayed in paper space viewports.
MSLTSCALE: Scales linetypes displayed on the model tab by the annotation scale.
Most likely, you'll need to change PSLTSCALE to a value of 1.
