    Hi,

You have posted this in the wrong forum. What software are you using so that we can move this to the appropriate forum?

    Thanks.

If you use the LIST command on these entities, do one or more have a non-zero "Z" value (elevation)?

Do either of them mention something about an extrusion direction?

What CAD is telling you is that your lines are not at the same elevation and therefore don't intersect so they can't be trimmed or extended. This can happen sometimes if an object has an elevation (for whatever reason) and you snap to it. In the case of simple lines (which I assume you're using) if you draw a line in space it will start with an elevation of 0, and if you snap it to an object with an elevation of 1 it will draw up to that object, but still start at 0 so now you have a crooked line as far as elevation is concerned.

If you select the lines and look at the properties you should see that the elevations aren't matching. You should review your drawing and set all the elevations to be at 0 so you don't run into this in the future.

As long as you understand "not coplanear" means the lines are not on the same plane changing trim settings can be done from the command prompt to allow it. You should read up first in the help documentation.

    http://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/20...A-7D15F9EF6D7F
    Trim or Extend in 3D
You can trim or extend an object to any other object in 3D space, regardless of whether the objects are on the same plane or parallel to the cutting or boundary edges. In the TRIM and EXTEND commands, use the Project and Edge options to select one of three projections for trimming or extending:

The XY plane of the current UCS
The plane of the current view
True 3D, which is not a projection

Once you set which options you want to use while using the command the values are saved in the registry so the settings will be kept until they are changed again.
