    Default Two pipe network (DH)

    Hi all!

I am not Civil 3D user, but our company wants to start using it. We are dealing with design of networks and in case of single pipe networks (water, gas, sewerage etc) it is all clear with Civil 3D. But is it possible also easily design networks with double pipes, for example District Heating pipes? What I mean, is there a solution that we can also design it as it would be one pipe network displayed on site plan as two pipe network?

    Best,

Cool Re: Two pipe network (DH)

Are you wanting to show this in plan and profile?
Will you need to analyze the hydraulics?

AFAIK - the structures in C3D are designed to have a single attachment point, meaning you can attach multiple pipes, but at the same point.

I have seen users draw multiple pipe systems in C3D, but either by faking in the second pipe or maybe by using a second network of pipes, and faking the connection to the structures in the first network, etc.

You will probably get more responses asking over here.

Default Re: Two pipe network (DH)

It will be OK to show this in plan. In profile it will be enough to show only one pipe, because they have the same DN and have to be placed at the same depth.

Actually the problem is that surely I can draw two separate pipes, but it will take (as I understand) 2x time to draw them, than only one pipe. This both pipes have to be (usually) exactly identically (DN, insulation class, depth), so I just thought that there is easy way to make two pipes from one (and if I need to make some changes later, it could be possible to change only one pipe and the second one will be changed automatically).

Thank you for links, I will search them also
