    Default Revit sharing files

    Hi all;
    please advise wow to collaborate with our subconsultants if they are using the same Revit platform as we, architects. And we do not use C4R. They are not in our office. What is the best way to do it if they just send us their files?

    Please help!
    Thanks!

    Since Revit files tend to be too large to email, we use Dropbox.

    (No, we do not use DB as our "server" ... just for transferring files.)

    Thanks.
    So, after every consultants update you replace their file on your server and relink it into your model?

    I save each update separately so I have a record of them (if the consultants haven't already, I will append the file name with the date it was received).

    In Revit, I go to the Manage Links dialog and click "Reload From" and select the new file. This keeps any V/G changes in views/view templates applied to the new file.

    We have our ftp set up with an Rsync script. Uploads our revit model to the ftp nightly. We have a second script set up to pull new files down. Only needs to grab the deltas. Works great. As for record keeping, we don't typically bother. I can go back 90 days on a "Live Backup" that takes a snap shot nightly and stores it separately. I don't know that I've ever needed to go back and prove what I had and when, but I could if I needed.
