    Question Linked File Location Mismatch

    Hi all,

First post on the forum so I hope I'm getting this in the right location.

I'm currently modelling some sanitary pipework for a project. Due to its size, the development has been split into an above ground 'Building' file and a below ground 'Basement' file.
I've just finished modelling the sanitary pipework in the basement file and the equivalent pipework in our building file and noticed in section view that when viewed from our MEP architectural file 'File A' the building pipework is positioned as expected, next to the architectural wall (highlighted light blue) but the basement sanitary pipework isn't. Conversely, when viewed from the MEP basement file 'File B' the pipework appears to have shifted approx. 100mm into the wall, and the basement sanitary pipework is then located correctly.
Has anyone experienced this before or know what might be causing it?

The files are linked on Share Coordinates so I don't think this should be causing it.

to find out if it's an origin point issue, start a blank project, and bring in all the models at your shared point, and make sure they line up.

are all your links pinned? maybe the basement plumbing file got scooted accidentally, in that case, just align with first floor and pin it.

is the architecture and structure broken up by floor as well? (check Their origin points) if not, i suggest keeping your plumbing as one model for the whole building, just for ease of drafting. you can crop out the other floors by section box in a 3d view.

    hth,
    mike

Thanks for your suggestions. Looks like it was an origin issue point. We've nudged our services around and everything seems in order.

    Cheers!
