Default inserting detail component into a beam family

i would like to insert a detail component (beam section) into a structural beam family so that when you cut a section in your model and that section cuts through said beam you will see the detail component instead of a blank rectangle?

Default Re: inserting detail component into a beam family

Is this always going to be the same or is it dependent on the size?
I'm assuming your talking about a rectangular PCC or CIP Beam or maybe wood?
I'd look at trying to insert it into the profile that the beam family is using.
Should be 3 of them in there (depending on family), one for each detail level (course, med, fine)
I know that concept works with Curtain Wall Mullions.
