    Question Extracting Families?

I was needing a little help with families on Revit. My company is trying to learn Revit so that we can use it in future projects. Unfortunately, I am the companies "Revit Pioneer" and I am trying to learn how everything works. I am finding that I do not really have any families to load in or work off of in my company files. My boss is wanting me to extract some families from another project that we have available. Is this possible?

    Thanks in advance!!

There are two types of Revit families - system families (like Walls) and loadable families (like Doors, Windows or Specialty Equipment).

For system families, you will have to transfer them from one project to another, as they cannot be saved to an external family file. To do so, use the Transfer Project Standards feature.

For loadable families, follow the instructions in this Autodesk Knowledge Network article, under the To save all families section.

Your other option for system families is to create a "Warehouse" file for them to live in.
We do that for our wall partitions and doors.
Place all the families in the warehouse file. Then users can open it, find what they want and copy and paste from the warehouse to their current project.
