Default Array will not Flex properly

Hi have been fighting with this all day, ready to scream.

I am trying to make a Georgian glass panel to put into a window family, I have been able to array the vertical Georgian bars "I haven't a clue why it works" but I am unable to get the horizontal bars to array up.
    I have attached 2 files.

I am able to flex the panel ok when horizontal bar is just an extrusion, but after I array it and lock it inplace vertically with align, when I flex the width now I just get errors.

    I am using Revit 2018

    Please Help

My Autodesk reseller is looking £2100 for a one day course on families???

First thing to know is that when arraying it is best to create the item you are arraying as a separate family and then nest it into the host family. You can then associate the parameters to the host so the nested family can be flexed. Also when arraying there must always be at least 2 of the arrayed element.
