Default ASSA ABLOY Openings Studio BIM Plugin - thoughts?

    Hi all,
Our office is considering in investing in this plug in for door openings. It seems to have the possibility to streamline hardware schedules and standardize our library of door families, but I'm worried it will slow down our central model or lock us into overly complicated proprietary families. Does anyone have any experience with this plugin that they can share?

As a reference, we are a small office with a fairly unsophisticated (but growing) Revit family library, mainly working on multi-family residential and mixed use projects.

    Thanks!

We have used it on a few projects, mostly to make sending door information to the hardware consultant and importing the hardware set numbers from the hardware consultant easier. We are a larger office who already have a lot invested in Door families that work the way we want, so all we did was map our parameters to the Openings Studio parameters. We did not make use of the Door family generation feature, so I cannot comment on how that would impact a model.

Ditto to what Mr Koch has stated.
I've also used the Allegion? version. Basically the same thing.

I wanted to bump this tread for any more recent users of the Assa Abloy Opening Studio?

We are a smaller firm using the CTS Supper Doors a system new to this firm so other are still learning how to use it.

What is your experience with the add in?

If you're looking for content you could also check out the Parallax guys. There content is set up very similar to the Super Door content, only you don't use the tool. You just create new types from a kit of part and you only need to pay for it once.
I've used the CTC Super Door content to create my own library so I don't need to use the tool anymore.
We heavily modified it. Main reason we bought their content was so we didn't need to spend time to make all the content.

ASSA goes beyond being a solid tool, it actually has humans behind it as well that can help in a variety of ways.... but of course, the tool can create custom made doors for you as well.

My firm does use it, but there are scenarios where it might not make as much sense. But overall, I recommend it.
