Points and Description Key Sets

I created a new description key with code and all the correct parameters i wanted. trouble is, it comes in on the correct layer with the correct style and point label style, but
the color is not the layer color i chose. highlight and go to properties it shows true color - bylayer and layer-is the correct layer.

what's wrong or what setting did i miss.

Was the layer existing in the drawing beforehand? Is the CECOLOR system variable other than "BYLAYER"?

Just another great example of the styles fiasco. The problem is most likely with the multiple levels of layers and hierarchy. Even a 1st semester drafting student knows better than to use nested layers

I don't understand.
Does it show a truecolor -or- does it show Bylayer?

Or are you saying that your layer color is a truecolor?

Well, i think i figured it out finally. it seems the style (which is drill hole) needed to be modified. after going to the edit style dialog, i noticed on the display tab that the marker and label were on
a layer named v-node-bore, color bylayer. that layer was red which is the color of my points. it seems they act like blocks and need to be set to layer 0 in order to take on the properties of the layer
they are insert on (per description key code). seems to have fixed the problem.
