    Default Array difficulties

Using Autocad 2016, I'm having trouble with an array. I can make them no worries, just can't figure why I can't union an array with a normal 3d part, and can't subtract from an array either, like removing a cylinder to make a hole.

So does anyone know how to "union" an array with a normal 3d part ?
or how to "subtract" from an array ?

You will need to explode the array prior to running the union command. So that each of the objects created by the array are 3D Solid objects.
