Default Controlling non-plot objects by Plot Style Table

Alright – here’s what I got: a bunch of dwgs that need to be plotted in two formats. One set with (for the sake of clarity, I’ll call ‘redacted’) elements. Basically, a solid hatch covering up specific information on the drawings (i.e. security sensitive, proprietary, brand-names, etc) for the bidding and permitting set. The other set will print with the redacted information ‘on’ (i.e. visible) – for client’s full review.

Right now, I’ve got the redaction hatch elements on their own layer, (and since the project is using plot style table (.stb) a custom style that will print it grey-scale).
Is there a way to make a Plot Style plot or non-plot? I would like to be able to print once using the ‘redaction style’ and then once with the ‘non-redaction style’. Without doing a lot of scripting of freezing/thawing of layers – which is my current plan if I don’t find anything on the plot style/printing settings end of things.

I’ve looked through the style options, but did not see anything for plotting vs. non-plotting BY STYLE.

    Anyone done anything similar?

Create two LayerStates, one with that hatch layer sett o NOPLOT and one with it set to PLOT: run the one you want before you PLOT.

can a layer state be set 'outside' of the drawing, or will I still have to open and run on each file?

LAYERSTATE is set inside a file, but you can export it to use in other files with the 100% exact list of layer names.

yep - that's not happening on this project...

looks like I'm gonna be running scripts.
