Question Annotative Block not Scaling Properly

Hello all - I feel like I'm missing something obvious here, but I'm currently stumped.

I'm in the process of converting the last of our electrical blocks to annotative/dynamic blocks and the light fixtures are giving me grief - they won't scale properly. So my 2'x4' light fixture is fine in 1/8" scale, but is half the size in 1/4" and twice the size in 1/16".

I even tried creating a brand new block; set the scale to 1:1, drew my 2'x4' rectangle, made it a block and annotative (see attached).

The left is my perfectly sized block at 1:1, but when I change the scale to 1/2" and insert it, now it's 48'x96'

    What am I missing?!?

Bare with me, I'm from the Civil sector, but I'm not sure why such a block would be annotative at all considering it represents something that I would think would remain at a size of 2' x 4' at any scale.

I have to agree with MMccall. No need to have the block be annotative.

    CADKitty,

Correct me if I am wrong......but this block represents a 48"x24" ceiling light fixture in plan and when it is placed on a drawing you want it to physically be 48"x24" regardless of the scale factor because it is not a scale dependent block. Think of it as a structural column in plan......a 24"x24" column will always be 24"x24" and should not be affected by the scale factor..!! so there is no reason for it to be annotative.

    I hope this was helpful..??
