Default Labeling profile segments in multiple profile views

I have a question about labeling profiles, maybe one of y'all can help me out. I'm trying to label segments of a profile across multiple profile views. Essentially I'm using profiles as my pipe material instead of pressure pipes. The label style I've found in the profile labels, labels the entire length of the profile and places those numbers in multiple random locations. I tried creating a new style from scratch using the component editor and added "distance between point1 and point2, but it doesn't seem to have a leader in a dragged state, nor will it update the segment length if and when it changes. Maybe there isn't such an animal.
    TIA, R

Can you attach an image of what it's doing now?

It's not doing anything random. Perhaps it's labeling each tangent (between VPIs) length?
Labels between picked points are static, as you have seen.

This label is displaying the entire length of the profile, across all of my profile views. I, meaning my boss, would like me to label proposed material between bore pits, or segments of trenching and/or bore lengths on a sheet by sheet basis. I've found a line/curve label that is pretty much how I want the profile label to act. It's dynamic so if you stretch the line or curve the label updates. Alas, it only works on lines, polylines and curves. So, is there a label that does this for profiles? Probably not, I have a knack for finding things C3D doesn't do! I'll attach a couple images to further demonstrate my point.........hopefully.
    Thanks again.

If I understand the problem, when you break the single profile into multiple profile views and label it, the label still wants to treat the profile as a single entity instead of indicating only the length shown in the profile view. I generally add an in-line PI at the sheet breaks. This forces the label routine to place it in the middle of the segment, and gives you a per-sheet length. Give it a whirl, Ric. If it works, the next breakfast is on you.
