Profile Band Text Not Showing

I'm going through the Mastering AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 book, Chapter 7 - Profiles and Profile Views. All going well, a lot to learn, but whenever I try to create any profile of my own I just get blank Band Sets.
I've selected the grid, used the EDITGRAPHPROPERTIES command, and have tried adjusting and changing everything I can think of. The information looks like it's there, as the band title is displaying perfectly fine, as are the horizontal geometry lines.
I've managed to show the chainage, but cannot figure out how I get everything else to display.

I am using Civil 3D 2019 (student version) and have copied in two surfaces from a previous drawing, as well as an alignment.

Any advice?

just a guess, but try checking the boxes in the show label column.
