Default Using Wall Break line Style

    Hi,

I am trying to model a road using breaklines. I need to show the construction depth of the road, so i thought of using the wall style breakline where i can add a depth. Seems to work OK untill i need to edit a level on a feature line and the wall depth doesnt update with new level for the feature line. Does anybody know what im missing out on?

    Thanks.

    Will

I don't know for certain, but i don't think you can modify the depth or elevation difference when using a wall style breakline, at least i haven't figured out how. i think you would have to recreate the feature line and add it back into the surface again.

I would suggest creating your feature lines for the top surface and then use the stepped offset command and offset horizontally by .01' or .02' and whatever depth you need. then use the feature lines to create your required surfaces (top and subgrade).

i'm sure there are others that may have different or better ideas, but that is how i would approach it.

Why not use an alignment, profile, and assemblies to model your road in a corridor model? Depending on the assemblies, you can target the breaklines horizontally and vertically. With a modeled corridor, you could then get a datum surface.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

Thanks for the replies. I am just using feature lines and breaklines because the road leads to a carpark and we wanted to model it all as one surface. for what i was modelling. it seemed easier than using a corridor.
