Question Some Settings (Units, Grid, Ortho) Don't Save in Workspace

    Hey everybody!

I'm working in AutoCAD 2017 with CADWorx 2017. I've noticed that when I start a new drawing my Units settings are at Decimal and Unitless. I change them to Architectural and Inches and save my workspace. Next time I open a new drawing the settings have gone back to Decimal/Unitless. The same thing happens with my Ortho and Grid/Grid Snap. I've read that 3rd party can cause issues like this, but all my other settings stay on what I've set them. Maybe I'm overlooking a simple thing, not sure.

Any help and/or tips will be greatly appreciated!

Those settings are all saved in the dwg. Check your template.

Can you run AutoCAD separate from CADWorx? That would tell you whether it's AutoCAD or CADWorx. If AutoCAD it's probably being reset by acad.lsp, acaddoc.lsp, an arx file in acad.rx or something in the Startup Suite. If CADWorx you may need to try a different forum.

If I open AutoCAD by itself it still says CADWorx across the top.
If I turn OSNAP off, close, and open a new drawing it stays off. Turn it on and it stays on, so it doesn't seem to be template related (still fairly new, so correct me if I'm wrong). I'm really confused by the fact that it is only affecting a few options and not all of them. This isn't a big deal, I just want to find an answer so I can have a solution if this starts happening to our designers.

Sorry I didn't read your question well enough, been out sick two day and I'm still medicated. Ed Jobe is the one to listen to.
    Examples:
OSMODE for OSNAP settings is saved in the registry.
ORTHOMODE and GRIDMODE are saved in the drawing.
Some of the ones saved in the registry are Profile dependant as well and many others aren't saved at all.

If that's an issue though setting them in acaddoc.lsp is an option to have them set to a particular value each time a drawing is opened.

Start a new dwg. Set your units and other settings the way you want. Save the dwg as a new template: SAVEAS, Change the filetype at the bottom of the dialog to *.DWT, then give it a new name and hit OK. Next time, start your new dwg from this template. IF you use it a lot, you can go to the Files tab of OPTIONS and set it as the default template.

Thank you gentlemen, y'all have been very helpful! I'll set myself up a template.

I hope you get better soon Tom!
