    Default 2016 text editor

Hi all, I was looking at creating some 3D text yesterday and noticed there's no "text editor" tab at the top of the screen.
Where do I get that from ?

    I'm using Autocad 2016 student

As AutoCAD has no 3D Text function you're gonna have to figure out what software you're using and who made it, then ask them.

    I'm using Autocad 2016.
Ok then, what I want to be able to do is add text so as each character is a single thin line, then sweep any shape I make over it to make 3D text then place it on a surface to create an embossed or engraved text.
I know how to sweep, getting text as a single thin line is the problem.

Use Text or Mtext to create your text, then use express tool to explode it. They become lines which you can then clean up.

Create your text using a simple SHX font such as simplex, then use the command TXTEXP to "explode" the font graphics to native geometry. If you use a filled SHX font or a TTF, the results may be more difficult with which to work.
    See this for more details.

Ok thanks, tried exactly that but got the error "The selected path curve is not valid".

PS No wait ! .... after playing with it I found certain characters like e or p gave errors, so I had to explode individual characters that wouldn't play the game a second time then "join" some segments, then apply sweep and it worked.

A bit fiddly but does the job .... Thanks
