    Default layers

what's the best way to transfer content, i.e. line, polylines, text from one dwg to another and have them take on the layer properties of the second dwg.

i have a dwg that has all the civil 3d layers in it with the content i need. i need to transfer that content to another dwg with a different layer structure (a clients template)
but i don't want all the civil 3d layers to follow.

AutoDesk Design Center (ADC command) would probably be the way I'd do it. Open the client's template, run the command, and navigate to your template/dwg that has what you want. From there you can select a plethora of objects out of it, such as layers, text styles, blocks, etc. Probably everything you need by the sounds of it.

Edit: Also there's Lee Mac's Lisp that may help as well if ADC doesn't do it for you
