Brad,
I hate to say it , but this is as designed.
From Revit help:
"With families, you can apply model patterns and modify them in the Family Editor only. For more information, see When you have placed an instance of the family in a project view, you cannot modify the pattern. "
I'll add this to the Wishlist. See you later this week.
Regards,
Brian
When I asked for answers, I didn't want to hear this one. Anything else I can do so that my boss doesn't get upset that the joints showing on enlarged elevations are not aligned....help
Looks like your Quoin is a family. use model lines (defined in the the object style) in the family, dimensioned as an instance to offset the beginning horizontal and vertical. Now select the line and modify the vertical or horizontal dimension in the project as necessary. You'll have to work on each quoin, but should work.Originally Posted by bowlingbrad

If this was an inplace family, you can move the pattern while editing the family, but once you close the family its locked in place.
Looks like a pretty simple deal, so an inplace family wouldnt be bad.
otherwise you will have to create parameters like south is talkin about.
I placed model lines in the quoin family and now they won't display when placed in the model.
The quoin component has model lines placed on it's faces to simulate joints.
Any suggestions?
Project is too large. Attaching the quoin family.
Lines are probably on the wrong work plane. Here's an example, kinda rough - I just knocked it out for your reference. The extra model lines are to help define the edge of the quion in elevation. Hope it explains better what I was talking about. You'll have to clean it up and add the dimension lines to vary the width and height of the joint lines..

Okay, made component with lines for joints. All is good, except...
I can't seem to copy this component easily up the building. I tried placing it into my floor group -ERROR... I tried the copy to clipboard/paste aligned -ERROR... I tried the select copy in elevation -ERROR... The only way I can copy this is to select it, hold Ctrl and drag it up. I have no control over direction and distance. I don't want to do this for every quoin all of the way around our building. What's up?
Error message and component below
Wall based family's can be problematic at corners, when you copy it its not sure which wall it should be hosted from, I would recommend it not being wall hosted, this will make it much easier to work with.

I searched the forum and could not find the best way to 'un-host' this component. I tried copy/paste into a generic family template, but I could not get all of the parameters to work. Any suggestions?
