Default How do I represent a Metal Panel Wall or Metal Roofing?

I have been working on a small steel building and wanted to know how to create a wall that shows accurate metal panels. Where would you start with this. Could it be as simple as creating a crosshatch? Would it be possible to apply a profile to a wall finish? Has anyone had any success with this or with accurately representing metal roofing?

    Thanks,
    rgecy

I think using a curtain wall is your best bet. Check out the following thread:

A further search will yield results as this has been discussed many times before on this forum.

What do you mean by"accurate metal panels"? Accurate in plan, section or elevation or all three? Do you mean standing ribbed metal panels or filled cell urethane interlocking smooth metal panels?

    rgecy,

Even though I detected a hint of sarcasm, you might want to go and read the post (today) titled "pantry shelving". This applies to you too.

I think your key-word seems to be 'Accurate'. You need to define more clearly (perhaps with some images) what you mean by accurate as the replies will depend on the requirement. If by accurate you mean highly detailed, then you have a significant modeling process ahead of you to create in-place families of each element of your roof using Sweeps, Blends, Revolved objects and extrusions in either solid or void form. You can model (just about) anything with these.
If you can get away with outline geometric accuracy ( that is - the right size, but not fully detailed) then using curtain walls with mullions and solid panels of the appropriate size/material along with sloped glazing with mullions for the up-stands and replace the glass panels with solid ones. You will then need to draft the details either onto the sections or use drafting views with callouts. Try searching for other threads on detailing, I'm sure there are plenty!

More detail will help us to help you. Persevere with Revit, it really is worth it!
