Structural - Beams joining Column centrelines

Is there a straight forward way of avoiding steel beams automatically connecting to column centres? I have done a search but not found any threads that cover how to do this.

At the moment we end up stopping beams short of columns, or oversailing, so that we can control their exact location and ortientation.

MartinP made reference to it in one thread but I couldn't find what he was refering to....?

Are you working on Sturlas Way by any chance? In that model you will find families titled XXXXX decoupled, or something very similar, they shouldn't grab the centre line but I am afraid I can't remeber how I did it off the top of my head.
