    Talking New Families Guide

I would be nice with each release to have a cabinet file of "new" families. So that existing users could just grab the update and go, without slogging through the whole imperial or metric library hoping that there is a useful new family in there. Then again, this would only be needed for releases that include useful new families.

Absolutely. This would save me quite a bit of time.

As long as they don't remove any, I'm okay with getting an 'updated' library. Any modifications made to a stock family file gets saved to our office library. We look to our office library first then the stock families, then the web libraries. Hopefully the factory will put new family names in the 'New to this Release' section of the Help file.

I was just thinking about this topic yesterday afternoon as I spent several hours downloading and sorting through all of it...

Having a single download of just "new" families would be a big time saver.

I'm not sure why the web download "Revit Library" isn't part of the standard Revit installation...

What I would like is a collection of families (new or old, but new would probably be better) which have been built using the neat new tools & capabilities the developers keep adding--if only to give us more real-world examples of how to do it. For example, as regards nested families: Let's have some door families with interchangeable hardware & frames (which can then be scheduled); windows with interchangeable muntin patterns; water closets with standard and accessible rim heights and interchangeable grab bar & stall configurations.
