I'm a Revit new user working on a 3d site model. I'm having trouble finding decent looking 3d trees. I need large hardwoods and what I've found so far look kind of cartoonish. Thanks.

Are you planning on rendering your final image or presenting a wireframe? If you are rendering, then look into AccuRender's plant editor. It makes great looking trees.
I use dwg blocks in 2 elevations and it looks good to me in 3d. I make the trunk a brown layer and the leaves a green layer and they look decent to me, this way you can utilize the vast selection of dwg trees out there.
Take this base file, then link it into your plant families and it will scale as you change the height of the trees. Just sub out any dwgs you want.
