Question Save AutoCAD 2004 DWG files back to LT98

I am using Rel 2004 at this time and I have a client that wants me to save drawings back to LT98. Is this even possible? The info that "help" tells me that saving back to Rel12/LT 2 dxf format has many limitations, most of which are contrary to the way my files are set up. What is a guy to do? To make matters worse I am about to upgrade my 2 seats and add the subscriptions for the newest version. If anyone has a suggestion besides asking my client to come into the current century, please let me know.

You can use the autodesk batch dwg converter to save back to 14, with I think is compatible with LT 98

    Thanks for the response Brenda.

I have had trouble with the batch drawing converter in the past. I am reluctant to use it. I generally do not have to do many conversions. Most people that I work with use a current version. This is a new client. I guess I will create the files in such a way that I only have one tab in each drawing. The tabs seem to be the biggest problem that I will have. If someone else has anything to add, please do.

does you client have to make changes to your work???? If not, you could just make a dwf and have them use the free viewer.......or you could install PDF995, I believe its also free, and turn your drawings into PDF files. I use the PDF file format so that I can post my files to an intranet website for viewing by everyone in my company. I also have the ability to send these files to my customers.

    Thanks for the post Rhall.

My client does need access to the file. They need to be able to plot to a CNC machine for mold formation. The type of drawings I need to create would work best using paper space with multiple tabs(which is the way I produce all of my drawings). I may just have to make a separate file for them that is just the model space portion of the file for them to work in. Thanks for the help.

If they use the info for CNC work, they could probably manage with DXF files only. No multiple tabs of course.

    Thanks John,

That might work. How do I get a DXF file for LT98 from 2004 though? I am trying to have a solution before I call them to talk about this. Any suggestions? All that shows up in the list of file types to save to is Autocad R12/LT2 dxf. I would like to know if this will work. If I am not able to find out I will just have to do some trial and error with them.

LT2 came before LT98 so LT98 should have no problem with R12/LT2 dxf files.
