Angry Attached XREF not loading Linetypes properly

My XREF has numerous layers with specific linetypes assigned to these layers (so far, so good). I will then Attach the XREF into a drawing which has all the same linetypes loaded, and everything looks fine.

But then, after I save and re-open the drawing sometime later, the Linetypes associated with the Attached XREF become messed up (ie. gaps don't display properly), and I have to reassign the Linetype of the attached XREF to the Linetype already loaded within the current drawing through the Layer dialog box (ie. change linetype " XREF:Center" to "Center").

I've tried setting Visretain to 1, I've made sure that both drawings have the same setting for "Measurement" sysvar, and both files are using the same AutoCAD "LIN" file.

Nothing seems to help. Anyone know of a quick fix/setting to prevent me from having to reassign the Linetypes one-at-a-time?

Are there differences between the LTSCALEs of the different drawings?

LTSCALE is irrelevant because it was designed to set the display inependently from one drawing file to another.

Nonetheless, when I open the Layer dialog box in the drawing with the attached XREF, the XREF linetype names will be listed as "XREF-FILENAME|LINETYPE" until I change it to the desired Linetype name (eg. "xrefdrawing|Center" changed to "Center") every time I reopen the drawing with the attached XREF.

    Hi

Can you please post some example drawing files that demonstrate this behaviour.

    Have a good one, Mike

This thread is 13 years old.

Can you explain the issue you are having?
Are they regular linetypes or complex linetypes?
If the latter, are they style or shape based?
    Thanks.

Why not post your DWG file here for someone to review: thanks.

Just make sure the linetype is the same in both drawings, visretain is set to 1 and the ltscale is the same in both drawings. This should work. Works for me.
