    Default hatch command deactivated

    hello,

I am working on Autocad 2004 to work on an old drawing.
I am facing the problem with the hatch command

. On clicking the hatch command the screen gets deactivated.

I could type on the command prompt which enabled the hatch command but i do not get the
hatch 'screen box' and i am not able to do any editing on the hatch as it again deactivates the screen.

    Appreciate your advice. Thanks

    Av

It sounds like the hatch is custom-made by someone else & it is not predefined with your current (or default) hatch patten file.
You need to ask the person who added the hatch for the solution.

    is filedia set to 1?
What are you wanting to edit with the hatch (style, shape, density, etc.)? Is there a dialog box that thinks it is being displayed on another monitor? does it happen only in this one drawing?

    hi Bokirra/ ccowgill,

    1) the hatch is not custom made as i was the one who worked on it earlier and it is me
    working on it now.

    2) filedia is set to 1

    3) it was set to work on two monitors, but i switched it to one monitor with the proper 'settings' but just to confirm i have again put it back to both monitors and there is no display
on the other........simply no issue with it......it is confirmed.

    4) i checked it if it is happening only with this old drawing.
And to confirm i opened a recent drawing i worked ............applied 'hatch' some 3 weeks back and NOW WHEN I CLICK THE 'HATCH command' thru 'DRAW' tool my SCREEN gets deactivated i HAVE TO PRESS THE 'ESCAPE' key to activate it.

5)' hatchedit ' or 'hatch' command is not displaying the command prompt BOX instead it
    it deactivates the window.

I have not done any custom or setting changes RECENTLY so i am not able to figure out
what went wrong with the 'hatch' and ' boundary' command after i last worked 3weeks back .

hope you find the fault and get the trick. thx

    Hi ccowgill,

I again plugged it to both monitors and it got SOLVED.......i am able to work on it.

    Thanks a ton.

But could you tell me why i am not able to see the hatch and fill box when i change the settings to only one PRIMARY monitor...........with photoshop i faced similar problem but
when i switched to ONE monitor but could fix it my making the necessary changes in the setting.........the missing 'boxes' reappeared - ALL on the PRIMARY MONITOR.

does it mean that changing the settings does not necessary get applied to all the softwares
...........each need to be worked separately???? Thanks

AutoCAD seems to have an issue if you work on 2 monitors, and then get rid of one, it stores the locations that the dialog was last opened at in pixels, so obviously, your second monitor is going to have a pixel number higher than a single monitor. You do manually have to change it. The good news is, it is relatively simple. Press Alt + Spacebar, then M, then use the arrow keys to move your dialog back on screen.
