As far as I am concerned, this is the only real problem I have with legends and I don't use this function because of this....many of my windows are curtain walls because of the ease/flexibility during design...

I realized that I could make a window style legend on my first project I am currently working on. I have set some of our windows we use to an instance for all variety of sizes with the same frame. I have also reloaded one of my other window families since it changed.

What I need to know is 2 things. First, can i get the elevation view of all the various sizes of the instance window? If not, what is the best alternative to that?
Second, how do I get the elevation view of the window style legend to change? I have dimensioned the window in the legend but then changed it in the family and re-loaded it into the project. It did not change. Can I get it to change? How?

    Thanks for the help.

Should we put a poll wishlist on this item. It sounds like there is enough interest in this item.

Not 100% sure what you need but here is a screenshot with how i have organized the doors. The Schedules then link the different door types.....

This is just my standard door types, i have others to use for other projects.

Here is our typical stuff, using legends. At least in V8 you can dim the legend components.

    Neb and Zeds,

Thanks for the images. What do you use for the style letter? Is it just normal text, or is it a tag of some sort? I just tried to use a tag yesterday but it did not link to anything.

    Thanks again.

Hey theres a thought! A legend view tag that could pick up the Family, type or mark parameter. As I said, at least we can dimension the legend components now. "Baby Steps". At this stage, Paul, it's just normal text. Lets face it schedules are, the most tedious of tasks. But Legends do make a hell of a difference in the time normally spent, creating any schedule and kicks any other software's BUTT!!

Yeah i just use simple text. It looks like zed does more detail than we do for storefront. We typically just show that information on elevation views, but i do like how that looks. May have to look into that on future projects.

Boy I guess I am in the Revit stone age. We are finishing up a big project 6.1 and were afraid to adopt the new versions. To get the graphics of each door added to the door schedule sheet, I followed an AUGI tip to place extra doors in a MANAGEMENT phase, and created individual elevations for each door.

    Just my $.02

Don't be afraid! Revit 6.1 is Stone Age BIM at this point! I think you could update this project with confidence....everyone else agree?
