1/3 bond fill pattern

I'm fairly illiterate when it comes to creating hatch patterns within the text editor. I'm trying to create a very simple 1/3 bond 8"x24" block (arriscraft) pattern, but I can't figure out how the variables work when changed. I was able to create a running bond pattern, but I can't seem to figure a way to get it to shift over 4". I've tried changing every number variable, but I'm obviously missing something.

Here's what I have for the running bond...

*Block 8x24,  8 x 24 blocks running bond

0,             0,             0,             0,             8
90,            0,             0,             8,             12,             8,             -8

How do I fix it for 1/3 bond?

The answer is probably very simple and obvious, so be kind...

Hmm, yeah i tried to learn the text editor way but its so confusing. There are tutorials on the web on how they are defined with good step by steps. But in the end i just bought Hatck Kit, very good graphic way of creating hatch patterns where you can simply draw a drafting view in revit then export to dxf and create a hatch pattern from it...

Hope this works for you. This one shows grout joints so, at 1/4" scale, it has a little too much detail. I haven't found 1/3 bound without the joints. Set the import scale to 16 and that will give you an 8" brick.

this is the simplest I can come up with, it's a set of infinite horizontals and a repeating vertical:

Very very close...but every other course should line up. How would I accomplish that? Again, forgive my ignorance...but the Revit pat help file doesn't help a whole lot...

Unfortunately this is not a revit issue its an acad .pat file issue. You will find your answer from an acad guru(try the acad forums) not a revit guru. I tried to learn how to create my own hatch patterns and realized this is the reason I didn't like acad. It would be soooooooo awesome for revit to come up with a hatch creation tool within revit that would allow you to sketch what you want real scale, then save it as a .pat file. It amazes me that autodesk in its many many years of using .pat files never provided a tool to make your own. Hatch kit is the only solution I know of.

Well, Express Tools remain an enigma too, why they remain a separate part of AutoCAD to this day, some 10 years (estimating) later??? They should have been absorbed into the application ages ago.

Hatch kit is the only solution I know of.

I tried that out but couldn't make heads or tails of the interface. Thanks for your response...I'll take my problem over to the ACAD side and hopefully get some help there.

I can't make heads or tails of the interface either.

I use HatchKit with Autocad. Draw the lines in Autocad. Export the selected lines to DXF. Import into Hatchkit and it should work.

In Autocad, draw just enough info to get the pattern to repeat.

Help with using the interface would be a nice addition to the program.
