Also, they're not connected, so if you create exact duplicates and delete rows from one, it will not affect the other. Keep in mind that schedules can be placed on sheets multiple times, just like legends.
I think this is a good suggestion... Note blocks seem to be the way to go here. It will be much more intuitive for our users to simply copy a generic symbol to create a new line item.

I do see a potential downside... If the generic annotation symbols look too well organized, I guarantee some of our users will just start using the symbol to represent the hardware schedule.

    Thanks for your input.

After reading Steve Stafford's blog, I would like to change yes/no fields to text fields so I can get text symbol dots.

I can't figure out how to change the schedule.

When I go to Schedule Properties and highlight the field and click edit, the Type is greyed out....
You have to delete the parameters and define them again as Text. Then, paste in a bullet or use the pulldown if there is already one in a field. One can find an Arial bullet via Character Map.

Question Re: Setup a Hardware Schedule using a Revit Key Schedule

This is exactly what I wanted to do this morning! However, I've run into a little snag that I didn't expect and cannot explain at the moment. For some reason, When I try to add a parameter in the Fields tab of the Schedule Properties dialog, the ability to chose Project Parameter vs. Shared Parameter is grayed out and set firmly to Project Parameter. I'm trying to remember if this has happened before when setting up key schedules, but I don't appear to be doing anything different. Any ideas as to why I would suddenly be locked out of using shared parameters??

Shared parameters have never been available in Key Schedules.

Unhappy Re: Setup a Hardware Schedule using a Revit Key Schedule

This probably got me thinking along those lines...

Thanks David, I checked my other key schedules and you are right. I haven't used shared parameters in any of them. Any idea why shared parameters, calculated values, project parameters, tags and key schedules don't play nice? It would be nice to control some of my shared parameters via a key schedule or use calculated values in tags... *sigh*

I have no clue Issues with calculated parameters have been on my "huh??" list since I started posting questions on these forums. Hopefully they'll be addressed in the future, although unfortunately they are not as "flashy" as some other features that get to the top of the development list.
