Default Rendering Hangs (was Rendering Issue)

I'm working with Revit Version 8.0 latest build from the web.

System: 2.4 GHz Pentium with 1 Gig Ram.

    Trying to render a 22 x 33 image at 300 dpi.
Exterior Scene: Lights off with only the Sun.
    No radiosity.

The program does not up date the shaded view to a rendered view as it does with lower resolution images, but does systematically advance the percent complete, ultimately reaching 100%. Then it appears to hang up as if an additional processing step is occurring.

The "Capture Rendering" and "Export Image" buttons remain ghosted out.

The smaller renderings process fine. So far this rendering has taken two days. It's a large file at 82 Mb but a majority of that data is the construction document sheets.

Has anyone had a similar experience with rendering? Is this a bug in 8.0?

I always try to render my image around 4 x 6 at a higher dpi. There is no need I can think of to render the image at such a large scale. This may help.

The other option is to delete the view and set a new one up if you think the image is corrupted in any way.

I actually pushed the image size so I would get a 300 dpi print output at 32.8 x 21.4.

With this particular rendering Revit is indicating:
    835 dpi 9850 x 6439 pixels
11.7" x 7.7" would be the size of the print output at 300 dpi

The max limit Revit would give me on the pixel aspect was 10,000.
At 300 dpi that equates to a 33.33 inch printed image at 300 dpi print quality.

I did some low resolution tests, for client approval, so I don't think there is an issue with the view. The low resolution image is attached.

When rendering, it does seem to hang up sometimes (since 6.1). I have found that if I go to the Windows task manager, then do nothing but simply close the task manager it seems to "wake" Revit up and then the rendering will finish and the export buttons come alive.
